Values that support Abstinence and Faithfulness (Part 1)

Unconditional love is a requisite value for faithfulness in marriage. Love is a key component in any relationship especially in one that is intended to lead to marriage; it brings the two partners closer. Love is sustained even when there are arguments and the partners do not agree on certain issues. It looks beyond the strengths and weaknesses of the other person and accepts them as they are.

Love guides the choices that people make regarding their partners. To make these choices couples need to spend quality time together and to know each other better. This puts them in an informed position on the values that their partners hold and what exactly they are getting themselves into. In making these choices, people have to look at their shared values and common interests. And the presence of friendship cannot be ignored. 2007 Elections in Kenya: Catholic Bishops Give Guidelines

Nairobi: Wednesday August 15th August 2007
The Kenya Episcopal Conference has outlined qualities of good leadership that Kenyans should look out for as they exercise their democratic right in elections later in the year. The eight page Pastoral Letter titled ‘Love God and Love your Neighbour’ and was read by the Chair of the Conference Most Rev. John Njue and signed by 26 Bishops. The Bishops emphasize dialogue, thus, “the relationships that are established in a climate of dialogue overcome ethnic divisions and ideological differences. Dialogue prompts people to seek out what unites rather than what divides them”.

Most of us think we are immune to the effects of music and other forms of entertainment that make use of sound and pictures. Unfortunately this is not the case.
